Series Review: Gilmore Girls: Top Reasons Why You Should Give This Series a Shot

This series is the story of a 30ish single mom- Lorelai Gilmore who got pregnant when she was 16 and ran away from home to escape the restrictions of her parents and grew herself and her kid alone. She later on was the owner of a successful inn and became well achieved in her life.
This is a heartfelt comedy-drama series. One of the things that I could relate with Lorelai was her obsession with coffee or as she says being asked “Do you like coffee?” “only with oxygen” and all were swooned.
This series never fails to light up your mood and make you laugh with its jokes, and it also gives you your motivation to study like Rory Gilmore and your motivation to be well achieved like Lorelai Gilmore.
Here are some reasons to watch this amazing show I feel this is such an underrated series and should reach as many people as possible.
(Spoiler alert!)
1. Best portrayal of family dynamics- It is well said that “family is one thing you can’t live with, and you can’t live without”. The narrative is written in such a way that it portrays the contrasting relationship Lorelai has with her daughter vs. her mother. All the comfort, acceptance, and friendship that Lorelei didn’t receive as a kid she has given to her child.

All the comfort, acceptance, and friendship that Lorelei didn’t receive as a kid she has given to her child.
But as the story unfolds, we get to know that although Lorelai’s mother was very harsh on her as a child, she was so because she only wanted what was best for her. And when Lorelai ran away from her parent’s house even though her parents couldn’t say it directly to her, they only wanted to spend time with her as she was also dear to them.
This teaches us that even though we may dislike our parents’ views or sometimes feel that they don’t understand we just need to give them time because there is not a single parent in this universe who wants worse for the children
2. Motivation to study and be successful- who doesn’t want to be successful in their work and score good grades in their studies? This series gives you so much motivation to study and be successful. If someone can be as resilient and focused as Paris Geller then I’m sure they’ll go to great lengths.

It is not a surprise that the things that we watch have a significant impact on our perspective towards life and how to handle things. So, this series can teach us to work hard and go towards our goals as Paris Geller. Lorelai Gilmore also teaches us a great number of things like even if life is hard, you do not get up and keep trying and one day you will be as successful as her.
She was just a teenager when she had Rory and still it didn’t stop her from putting in the effort and doing hard work and in the end, she had her own successful business.
3. Patience will give you things that are meant for you- Since the first episode you could see that Luke had some feelings for Lorelai, but he waited for them to come together instead of being desperate. He never discouraged or bad-mouthed any of her dates.

Even when she was almost married, he was happy for her, but we could see that he had an inner battle going on because he was moody and grumpy with his customers at his dinner. This was due to the reason that he had noticeable feelings for her. And on a remote level, even Lorelai knew for a long time.
He was also like a friend/almost dad figure to Rory. He cared for Rory deeply even more so than Jess (his nephew). This series teaches us to never give up on love. What is meant for you will always come to you and what is not meant for you, well you can stop that from leaving you.
4. Your life doesn’t end up according to your plan- There was no doubt in the fact that Paris Geller was an excellent student. She had the most amazing academic record; she was hard working and did everything that she could to get into Harvard. But life had other plans for her.

Even at the time, she thought her life was over as all her ancestors went to Harvard and she had only one dream which broke when she couldn’t get in. She was taken aback for a moment and didn’t go to school (which was a huge deal, because she was never even late for classes, but for her to miss them meant something major happened).
So, this series also teaches you that if life doesn’t go according to your plan, it’s okay to wait for what else life has in store for you.
Therefore, watching this series will give you the motivation to wait for life to unfold itself. Because just like Paris you could have an amazing life at Yale even if you don’t go to Harvard.
Conclusion
Gilmore Girls is, in my view, the most underappreciated series. In terms of the principles, it teaches through nonstop humor and drama, it is not acknowledged or discussed enough. It is my comfort show, but I assure you that if you give it a chance, it may also be yours. With only 7 seasons, it is not very long. It is the greatest and most enduring mother-daughter television program available on Netflix.
