Women's Asia Cup Final: The women's Asia Cup has made a comeback after a brief hiatus. The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh will host the 2022 Women's Asia Cup, which will take place from October 1 to October 16. This time around, there will be 7 teams participating in the T20 event.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) hasn't officially confirmed the tournament's specifics, but Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, the chairperson of the BCB's women's committee, confirmed them to ESPNcricinfo. The details are included below.

Which teams will compete in the Women's Asia Cup in 2022?

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and the host country Bangladesh are among the countries that will compete in the 2018 edition. The 27th and 28th of September are the scheduled arrival dates for all teams in Bangladesh.

The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium is the greatest option for the BCB due to its close proximity to the airport and the hotel where the seven teams are anticipated to stay, according to Shafiul Alam Chowdhury, the director of the board and chairwoman of the women's committee.

We want to hold the women's Asia Cup matches on Ground 1 of the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, and training will take place on Ground 2.

"As a host country, Bangladesh has already hosted a number ofseveral significant men's and women's continental and international competitions. In particular, Sylhet, which hosted games during the 2014 men's and women's T20 World Cups, will host this year's Women's Asia Cup of the Asian Cricket Council for the first time."

The 2024 Women's T20 World Cup will be held in Bangladesh, which was recently named the host nation by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shafiul Alam Chowdhury said, "We are making all the necessary arrangements to welcome spectators, including school students, for all the matches of the Women's Asia Cup because we want to generate significant interest around women's international cricket and the Bangladesh women's team leading up to the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Given that we are collaborating with the ACC and ICC to ensure the success of the 2024 T20 World Cup and the Asia Cup, respectively, we intend to promote both events effectively.

As things stand, Sylhet may even host the semifinal and championship matches of the 2024 T20 World Cup, therefore we are eager to put on a strong performance for the Women's Asia Cup. There is already quite a bit going on in Sylhet as far as women's cricket, especially in the T20 format. The ongoing 12th edition of the Women's National Cricket League is also being played in Sylhet.

Formats in Women’s Asia Cup

After four iterations, the Women's Asia Cup's original format of 50 overs was altered to 20 overs. With six championship victories under their belt, India has by far been the tournament's most successful team.

In the 2018 version, Bangladesh defeated India by three wickets with the last ball of the match to prevent them from winning seven straight. Originally slated to take place in Bangladesh in 2020, the edition was ultimately canceledcancelled and moved to 2021.

UAE and Malaysia, two of the seven teams scheduled to compete, have secured spots in the tournament through the qualifying process after reaching the final of the ten-team ACC Women's T20 Championship in June. UAE finished the tournament undefeated and in first place after defeating the hosts, Malaysia, by a margin of five wickets.

ACC Women’s Championships

Two groups made up the 10 teams competing in the ACC Women's Championship. Host nation Malaysia was in Group A together with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Singapore, and Oman.

UAE (7 points), which went undefeated in the group, and Malaysia (6 points) both advanced to the knockout rounds. Bahrain, Bhutan, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Nepal, and Oman made up Group B. Hong Kong finished the group unbeaten with 8 points, and Nepal qualified for the knockout rounds with a victory in three games and a loss for 6 points.

As a result of having a higher net run rate during group-stage matches, UAE advanced to the final despite being all-out for 81 against Nepal in the first round. When the second knockout play was shortened to 11 overs for each side, Malaysia scored 86 runs and then successfully held Hong Kong to 74 runs to win by 12 runs.

Women's Asia Cup Final:In the championship match, Malaysia put a score of 100 on the board, which UAE easily chased down with 5 wickets remaining and 10 balls left.
