Plot Synopsis

Ji Woo, played by Han So-Hee, gets constantly bullied at high school by fellow students for being the daughter of a gangster. Her father, Dong Hoon, stepped away and is said to have joined an underworld crime ring, leaving the teenage Ji Woo to fend for herself.

She is constantly followed by the cops who are searching for her father. One fateful day, a fight breaks out between Ji Woo and the bullies, where she puts the bullies in their place and quits the school.

Dong Hoon visits his daughter on her birthday, but he is shot dead outside his house by an unknown assassin while a terrified Ji Woo witnesses her father’s death through the keyhole.

During her father’s funeral, the leader of the crime-ring, Choi Mu-Jin, comes to pay his last respects.

She visits Choi Mu-Jin and asks him to find her father’s murderer so that she can kill the murderer with her own hands, but Mu-Jin drives her away.
Later, she starts to search for the murderer herself but gets kidnapped by local thugs. Mu-Jin comes to her rescue and brings her to his organisation as a rookie, where she trains hard in a fighting gym that is filled with gang members (all men) who humiliate her all the time.

"Don't try to win by strength; even if you train hard, you will lose."

In a fighting competition held at the gym, she emerges as the winner by defeating Do Gang-jae, a young and prospective recruit. Mortified by his defeat, Gang-jae drugs and tries to sexually assault Ji-woo but is unsuccessful in doing so. An enraged Mu-jin leaves a huge cut on Gang-jae’s face and kicks him out of Dongcheon.

Ji-woo is now officially a member of the crime syndicate and is given the new identity of Oh Hye-jin. She trains for the next couple of years and successfully joins the Police Agency.

She then transfers to the Narcotics department to find out the truth about her father’s death.partner, Pil-do, initially dislikes her, but later finds himself falling in love with her. Several circumstances generate doubt among the fellow cops of the narcotics department regarding Ji-woo. She, along with Pil-do, encounters several drug lords, including her previous rival, Gang-jae, who has become one of the most feared names in the criminal world.

While working as a cop, Ji-woo is faced with the dilemma of being loyal to her boss or being truthful to the police agency. As she edges closer to finding the killer, she is torn between her loyalty to Mu-jin and her increasing distrust towards him due to the evidence pointing towards Mu-jin being her father’s killer. Ji-woo’s quest for revenge and the cops' raiding and attacking Dongcheon signal that Mu-jin’s reign is nearing its end.

Conclusion
Han So-hee’s performance as Yoon Ji-woo is praiseworthy. It's a complete contradiction from her previous role in Nevertheless, as an innocent art student.
She has perfectly delivered the depth of character as a woman who survives in a world of male dominated criminals.

The male leads are equally charismatic and have given outstanding performances.
Each 50-minute episode is a rollercoaster of mystery and thrills.
The quest for revenge and its consequences are the central themes of the k-drama. The rising tensions and emotional warfare between the characters add more intensity.

“Just keep in mind one thing: the prize is your life.”

The action sequences are executed really well. But the storyline becomes very predictable after the initial episodes. However, it is still a great watch and is very captivating with dark plot twists. The series is available on Netflix.
